NLI is seeking members in many countries and offers the opportunity to widen international access and awareness and to establish close relationships with lawyers in other countries. An AGM is held at the member's offices in a different country each year giving the opportunity to widen contacts with lawyers. Additionally, there is a workshop in about the middle of each year. Members can establish relationships with other members in order to encourage referral of business and also to identify suitable lawyers to handle specific client assignments. Although members are not obliged to refer business to each other, NLI prides itself on the closeness of the relationships that develop between members.
